Organization Assists Injured OEF/OIF veterans

Hi -

I work for an organization that assists injured OEF/OIF veterans to repair and modify thier homes when returning home after a life altering injury.  I would like to submit information to be shared with others as a resource for potential assistance to someone facing these challenges.  I have included more information below and please contact me with questions.

Rebuilding Together's Serving Those Who Serve program was developed to meet the needs of injured soldiers and veterans returning from Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. The program focuses on providing home modifications and repairs to help the veterans get back into their homes.

Working through our affiliate network and with founding sponsor Countrywide Financial Corporation, Rebuilding Together's Serving Those Who Serve program is currently prepared to assist as many as fifty veterans.

Each veteran we assist has unique needs and we work with occupational therapists to address and meet their needs on an individual basis.  The home modifications and repairs vary depending upon the specific project, and can range from replacing door knobs with latch handles; to remodeling a bathroom to include a zero entry shower with accessible fixtures; to building wheelchair ramps to make a home accessible.

Serving Those Who Serve focuses on helping veterans who suffer from one or any combination of four injuries including: loss of sight; loss of hearing; mobility impairments; traumatic brain injury. The main eligibility criteria are (1) veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom or Operation Iraqi Freedom, (2) Severely injured (3) Homeowner or in the long-term care of a homeowner.
